Network Engineer III, Information Security

WalmartBentonville, AR
$90,000 - $180,000Onsite

About The Position

This role involves a blend of network engineering and information security responsibilities. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for coding and configuring components to meet business and technical requirements, including non-functional aspects like maintainability, availability, and scalability. They will also be involved in selecting appropriate development tools and languages, and creating automation scripts for CI/CD and other processes. A key aspect of the role is ensuring security policy requirements are met during development. In Network Operations, the engineer will monitor network performance, suggest metrics, determine thresholds, and trigger alerts. The role also includes Requirement and Scoping Analysis, contributing to user stories and preparing requirement traceability matrices. In Network Design, the engineer will translate infrastructure designs into technical specifications for complex architectures involving addressing, routing, security, data center, IP multicast, VPN, and wireless domains. Network Maintenance involves creating change plans for updates and enhancements, isolating and resolving network faults, and investigating unresolved issues. For Network Issue Resolution, the engineer will independently identify and evaluate solutions for moderately complex issues, and diagnose incidents to restore services within SLAs. The role requires Security Domain Acumen, demonstrating awareness of security principles, comparing industry maturity, and providing expert advice and guidance.

  • Experience building proxy solutions & infrastructure for web-based network traffic to ensure secure internet access & F5 load balancing infrastructure for HTTP/HTTP traffic.
  • Experience developing & troubleshooting Proxy PAC solutions that allow for secure web access using Explicit web proxy implementations & FireEye for Malware detection/analysis.
  • Experience using network traffic troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, HAR logs, Netlogs, Tcpdump.
  • Experience configuring network devices & reporting to identity & access solution using AAA protocols.
  • Experience building scalable, fault tolerant network security infrastructure & conducting active BCDR tests across security services such as email, proxy, and vpn.
  • Experience designing network infrastructure automation solutions using coding solutions with ansible.
  • Experience consulting on complex operational issues related to Internet traffic, email, remote access & authentication in large, multi-vendor network environments.
  • Experience building change plans & templates to perform hardware & software maintenance of network security devices (Proxies, BIG IP F5, Email security appliances).
  • Experience with Certificate Lifecycle management - updating & maintaining certificates across network platforms & hardware types.
  • Experience building remote access solutions using VPN technologies & diving deep into VPN related issues caused by firewalls, AAA access policies, RADIUS protocol issues, internet connectivity, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Coding: To create/configure minimalistic code for entire component/application and ensure the components are meeting business/technical requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability and high-scalability needs.
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate languages (E.g. JavaScript, Python, C# etc.), development standards and tools (E.g. Monday.com, Linx, Embold etc.) for software coding/configuration.
  • Take initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful for future scope of work.
  • Build scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery), Testing or any other process (as applicable).
  • Implement telemetry features as required independently.
  • Ensure security policy requirements are properly applied to components/application during code development/configuration.
  • Suggest metrics to monitor network performance effectively.
  • Monitors current performance data to ensure adherence to defined SLOs for multiple network applications/systems.
  • Determine thresholds for the monitoring metrics and trigger alerts based on those thresholds.
  • Prepare requirement traceability matrix and maintain traceability between business requirements, functional requirements, design and test cases.
  • Contribute to the creation of user stories for component/module/simple requirements (for example: based on scalability etc.) (For agile methodology).
  • To translate a broader infrastructure design or blueprint into technical specifications and details to develop advanced addressing and routing, security, data center, and IP multicast complex architectures with VPN and wireless domains.
  • Draft design specifications of infrastructure network components that address usage, performance and security requirements.
  • To create change/maintenance plans for network updates, expansions and enhancements, within design scope.
  • Take appropriate action to isolate or limit network faults and failures.
  • Resolve network faults and failures following broad recovery principles and procedures.
  • Investigate the causes for unresolved faults and propose solutions that can address.
  • Independently identify and elaborate possible and feasible solutions to the issues raised.
  • Evaluate all available options to resolve the raised issues for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Investigate and diagnose Incidents to restore a failed IT Service as quickly as possible and within the specified SLA's.
  • To demonstrate awareness of various principles, ways of working, and subdomain-specific terminologies.
  • Compares the maturity of products, services, and processes within a subdomain against others in the industry.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
