About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Network Engineer to manage the day-to-day operations, service desk, and IT infrastructure of the Missoula Discovery Network. You will be primarily based on-site at the Missoula Fire Lab to ensure network availability, security, and compliance with the Authority to Operate (ATO).

Requirements

• Proven experience in network administration, help desk support, and IT infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with maintaining active directories, DNS entries, and VLAN/subnet configurations.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a USDA LincPass (HSPD-12 PIV card).

Responsibilities

• Manage help desk support procedures, assist users with network access, and unlock user accounts.
• Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot hardware and software associated with the Discovery Network.
• Complete applicable OS updates, review security advisory alerts, and perform root cause analysis troubleshooting.
• Ensure systems are scanned and remediated per USDA policy, conduct quarterly log audits, and maintain software/hardware inventories.
• Notify stakeholders of outages via email and Microsoft Teams, and continuously monitor environment performance.
• Perform user account reviews for privileged accounts quarterly and non-privileged accounts yearly.
