About The Position

The Network Communications Supervisor plays a critical role in leading the execution of structured cabling and physical network infrastructure across manufacturing, warehouse, and office environments. This role is responsible for supervising field activities, assigning and prioritizing project work, enforcing cabling standards, and ensuring high-quality delivery of copper and fiber infrastructure. The position provides hands-on leadership to internal technicians and contractors, manages vendor relationships, and ensures all work aligns with BICSI standards, company policies, and safety requirements while supporting IT and facilities initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage infrastructure, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong hands-on background with copper (Cat 5e/6/6A) and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling systems.
  • Proven experience supervising field work in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments.
  • Experience managing third-party cabling vendors and contractors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, cable schedules, and floor plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of structured cabling standards, BICSI best practices, and testing/certification requirements.
  • Ability to lead field teams, assign work, and maintain accountability for quality, safety, and timelines.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills at the physical network layer.
  • Strong vendor management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-through abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with technical staff, vendors, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing project demands.

Nice To Haves

  • technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • BICSI certification (Installer, Technician, or equivalent) strongly preferred; additional low-voltage or fiber certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee field execution of structured cabling work, including copper and fiber installations, pathways, racks, cabinets, labeling, and terminations.
  • Assign, prioritize, and track daily and project-based work for internal technicians and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination for cabling projects, supporting new construction, remodels, equipment deployments, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Enforce BICSI, TIA/EIA, and company cabling standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Perform regular site walkthroughs and inspections to validate workmanship, routing, labeling, testing, and documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for complex installations, troubleshooting, testing, and certification activities.
  • Manage and coordinate vendors and contractors, including scope review, on-site oversight, quality control, and acceptance of completed work.
  • Review drawings, floor plans, and project requirements; provide input on cabling design, materials, and installation approaches.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation, including cable schedules, as-built drawings, test results, and labeling records.
  • Track materials, tools, and inventory; coordinate procurement and staging of cabling supplies to support project execution.
  • Enforce safety policies and ensure proper use of tools, lifts, ladders, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with IT, Facilities, Engineering, and Operations teams to align cabling work with broader infrastructure and business needs.
  • Support after-hours or weekend work as required to meet operational and project timelines.
