About The Position

Join GDIT and be a part of the team of men and women who solve some of the world’s most complex technical challenges. We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team at Langley AFB. The Dual-Role Network & Cloud Architecture Engineer is responsible for the overall design, management, performance, and upkeep of enterprise-wide area network (WAN), campus area network (CAN), and multi-cloud infrastructure environments. This role blends traditional networking expertise with modern cloud architecture, covering cloud design, hybrid connectivity, routing, switching, cryptographic devices, multiplexing components, and network services. The engineer ensures daily operational integrity across physical and cloud-native networking devices within the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing Security Office and the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Architecture while driving cloud migration and hybrid topology design.

Requirements

  • BA/BS, 5+ years of experience
  • 7 Years of network engineering and integration experience
  • 2 Years Cloud integration experience
  • Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Cloud+ and CompTIA Security+

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
  • A working knowledge of AF DCGS and AF ISR operations is desired

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and manage scalable, secure cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, or hybrid/multi-cloud) while ensuring seamless, low-latency connectivity between on-premises DCGS networks and cloud infrastructures.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all physical networking devices, virtual private clouds (VPCs), cloud gateways, routers, switches, crypto devices, and network management platforms within the DCGS environment.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for network and cloud connectivity issues across core, cloud-hosted, and remote locations.
  • Maintain full operational understanding of the DCGS Architecture and security protocols; enforce government and military security practices, generate and support Network Service Requests (NSR) and Ports, Protocols, and Services Request (PSR).
  • Evaluate workload requirements provided by the AF DCGS Program Office to determine bandwidth, cloud compute/storage demands, Controlled Interface (CI) settings, and performance baselines for existing and emerging ISR capabilities.
  • Act as an Operations Engineer working with DOC Tier III staff, outside agencies, the 480 ISR WG, and the AF DCGS program office to establish robust, well-architected cloud and network integration solutions.
  • Lead installation efforts, configuration, and migration of CAN/WAN equipment and cloud resources; maintain comprehensive architectural diagrams, cloud design documents, and network baselines.
  • Review all enterprise and cloud integration efforts to guarantee system engineering rigor, advising government leadership and COR representatives on technical risks and optimization strategies.
