About The Position

As a Tier 2 Network Administrator, you will be challenged with enterprise support problems. You will coordinate with the Network Operations Center and other Operational staff to address break-fix issues, configuration updates, scheduled add/moves/changes, and technology upgrades and installations for Network routers and switches. As an experienced member of the Network team, you will coordinate ticket acceptance and resolutions and support the development of technical resolution reports for critical outages. In this role, the Network Administrator will be responsible for conducting approved network changes, performing IOS upgrades and technology upgrades to ensure continued operations, drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations, resolving systems failures and accessibility problems, supporting site surveys and engineering designs, and supporting new/enhanced network implementation, installation, and technical refresh projects. You will work independently with some supervision, and in remote locations, you must function as an independent engineer, performing maintenance and network problem-solving with minimal input from other Tiers/locations. Problems faced will be difficult, requiring detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation. You will employ creativity and ingenuity for new technical solutions applicable across the enterprise, drawing heavily on prior experience. You will perform Network ticket resolution and support Network ticket closure across Network Operations staff, including using administrative access to provision new switches, routers, and cryptographic devices; researching errors, incidents, and problems; performing incident analysis; routing Service Requests; performing root cause analyses; completing problem resolutions associated with incident tickets; and reviewing and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

Requirements

  • TS/SCI security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph
  • A Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience OR a PhD with 1+ years of experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement
  • Experience with various routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRF, MPLS, or 802.1x)
  • Experience with Cisco-ISE
  • Knowledge of KG-175 Series TACLANES configuration process, fault isolation, and firmware upgrade procedures
  • Familiarity Cisco and Juniper network devices
  • Active IAT Level II Certification
  • Active CCNA Certification

Responsibilities

  • Conduct approved network changes to include but not limited to VLan, ACL and port assignment.
  • Perform IOS upgrades to routers and switches.
  • Perform routing and switching equipment technology upgrades to ensure continued operations of the enterprise.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations.
  • Resolve systems failures and accessibility problems within the network to our services.
  • Support site survey and engineering designs data calls.
  • Support new/enhanced network implementation, installation, and technical refresh projects within a site or locale.

  • Use administrative access to the network to provision new switches, routers, and Cryptographic devices.
  • Use administrative access to network components to research errors, incidents, problems and to perform incident analysis and identify potential problems.
  • Route Service Requests to the appropriate organization required for incident resolution.
  • Perform root cause analyses.
  • Complete problem resolutions associated with incident ticket(s).
  • Review and implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
