About The Position

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a Board-Certified Neonatologist (MD/DO) to step into a Practice Medical Director role at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This facility boasts a high-acuity Level IIIB NICU with 60 beds and approximately 625 annual admissions, all within a collaboration with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to lead clinical excellence, quality initiatives, and academic advancement in a supportive environment.

Requirements

• Board Certified in Neonatology (not accepting board-eligible candidates)
• MD or DO degree
• Virginia Medical License (or willingness to obtain)
• Leadership experience in NICU or clinical program development
• Extensive neonatology experience
• Recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active)
• DEA (must be obtained prior to start)

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in a Level IIIB NICU
• Oversee clinical operations and provider performance as the Practice Medical Director
• Lead and implement quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Drive clinical innovation and program development within the neonatal service line
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and academic partners to expand neonatal services
• Participate in teaching for medical students, pediatric and family medicine residents
• Engage in Grand Rounds, simulation Boot Camps, and educational programming
• Mentor residents in quality improvement and research projects
• Support scholarly and academic initiatives in partnership with the medical school
• Work alongside multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialists
• Utilize advanced neonatal therapies, including high-frequency ventilation and nitric oxide therapy
