This role is responsible for evaluating and interpreting all film and electronically acquired radiographs (CR/DR) of castings to ensure they meet customer specifications and PCC standards. The technician will determine if parts are acceptable or require repair, mark parts for necessary repairs, and sign final reports approving castings for shipment to customers. The position involves reviewing various documents, ensuring all required views and welds are radiographed, and checking radiographs for quality. A key aspect of the role is distinguishing between true discontinuities and challenging indications in nickel-based super alloy castings, and interpreting these discontinuities according to customer specifications. The technician will also mark parts for repair, potentially request additional radiographs, and recommend repair procedures. Proper radiograph filing and storage, equipment calibration, and adherence to safety protocols are also essential functions. The role may involve assisting in generating part-specific techniques and performing other duties as assigned.
