About The Position

The NDT Technician operates VJ Technologies industrial X-ray systems at a customer site in Los Alamos to inspect products and identify defects. Full training is provided in the technical aspects of the work, with a path to NDT Level II Certification – Limited, Radiographic Testing (Digital Radiography). The position offers an entry point into NDT for a hands-on industrial worker.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years in a hands-on technical role in an industrial environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs alone and heavier items with assistance.
• Comfortable working in a rugged, dusty industrial setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced team.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a complete background check and drug test.
• Meet NDT vision requirements: near vision of 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at 12 inches or more, and the ability to distinguish colors used in the process.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or certification from an accredited technical trade school.
• Existing Limited Level II NDT certification in Radiographic Testing – Digital Radioscopy (ASNT or SNT-TC-1A).
• Forklift, power hoist, or pallet jack experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate X-ray equipment and parts-handling equipment at the customer location, following written operating procedures.
• Load and unload parts using a forklift or power hoist; training is provided. Alternate console and load/unload duties with a co-worker.
• Review X-ray images at the system console and disposition parts as good or reject/failed.
• Maintain and clean the X-ray system and parts-handling equipment.
• Interface with customer personnel on day-to-day production operations.
• Perform basic equipment repairs where practicable for the employee's skill level.
• Comply with all safety requirements and regulations at all times.
