About The Position

Corvid's manufacturing team, Goldbug, is looking to add an experienced Non-Destructive Test (NDS)/CWI technician to support our growing product portfolio. This role will ensure the structural integrity and compliance of welded components supporting critical aerospace and defense programs. Operating within an AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS), you will perform visual and non-destructive testing (MT, PT), develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) primarily for MIG and TIG welding processes, and ensure all operations strictly align with industry and customer standards.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be US Citizen and willing to work onsite in the Mooresville, NC area
  • 3 years of weld inspection experience with a preference for experience in Aerospace & Defense
  • Ability to lift up to 35 Pounds, stand for extended period of time, and pass standard near-vision acuity exam
  • Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of AWS D17.1 (Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications) and AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding Code – Steel)
  • Deep understanding of MIG and TIG welding principles, travel speeds, shielding gases, and filler metal selections
  • Proven experience writing and implementing WPS and PQRs specifically for TIG and MIG operations
  • Familiarity working within an AS9100 certified manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Visual Testing (VT) Certification
  • Experience with Nadcap audit preparation for welding and NDT

Responsibilities

  • Perform Visual Inspection (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant testing (PT)
  • Develop, write, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG)
  • Ensure all inspection and documentation activities comply with AS9100 standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and production teams regarding weld design, defect mitigation, and process improvements for manual and automated welding
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA) for weld-related discrepancies (e.g., tungsten inclusions, porosity, lack of fusion).
  • Maintain NDT equipment and ensure calibration cycles are strictly followed
