About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join their Industry Services team in Central Texas. This role offers a career in industrial construction inspection and quality assurance within Intertek's Asset Integrity Management (AIM) team, which supports asset life management through all project phases. Intertek provides specialists and engineering support in areas like design, process safety, mechanical integrity, inspection, maintenance, operations, corrosion, metallurgy, and risk analysis to ensure Total Quality Assurance. Requirements

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Minimum five (5) years of welding inspection experience.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic report preparation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Ten (10) or more years of welding inspection experience.
  • Experience inspecting transmission structures, utility infrastructure, structural steel fabrication, or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience with district cooling systems, chilled water piping, power generation facilities, or other utility-related assets.
  • Additional NDE certifications (UT, MT, PT, PAUT, or related methods).
  • Experience performing fabrication shop inspections and construction quality assurance activities.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1, B31.3, and related utility and industrial codes.
  • Previous experience supporting municipal utilities, electric utilities, power generation facilities, or heavy industrial clients.
  • Retired or semi-retired inspectors seeking flexible, project-based work are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Review weld and welder certifications for Code compliance.
  • Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with applicable AWS, ASME, and client requirements.
  • Conduct fabrication shop, construction, and field inspections for transmission structures, structural steel, piping systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Document inspection findings and prepare clear, concise inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, fabricators, engineers, and project managers.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities for utility, district energy, and power generation projects.
  • Travel to project sites throughout Texas and surrounding areas as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety requirements and company procedures.
