About The Position

Operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers (3 Axis) to mill shapes or patterns into the material on aerospace/aircraft parts. Our facility in Gardena, CA is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming and complex fastened and welded assemblies.

Requirements

  • Previous CNC machine operation experience required
  • Has proficiency in basic shop math skills and understands machining practices in a variety of materials
  • Ability to read shop blueprints
  • Must apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions from written, verbal or diagram form
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • High school diploma or general degree (GED) education or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in CNC Machining
  • Math Skills – Must know shop math i.e. trigonometry, decimals, fractions.
  • Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, spreadsheet, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Fanuc and Siemens control experience helpful.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude desired
  • use of Fanuc and Siemens controls helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines of 3 and 5 axis and fixtures to machine production parts with in standard time.
  • Sets up all tools.
  • Verifies part conformity using precision measuring equipment as required.
  • Performs related bench work.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
  • Reads/follows shop order/planning instructions, maintains material traceability and performs written entries into shop orders as required
  • Read drilling or routing operations set up to carry out the specified operation
  • Determines tools required to perform a variety of close tolerance drilling, tapping and milling operations
  • Pull required fixtures, holding devices and materials
  • Insert tools in tool holders and installs per-set tools in machine
  • Adjusts tool travel distances, may make program adjustments as required
  • Ability to program as needed to support production
  • Inputs required program instructions
  • Monitors machine operations
  • Inspects machined parts to ensure job specifications are maintained
  • Stock inventory and put tools away in proper place
  • Ensure machinery and area is kept clean and maintained
  • May operate multiple machines.
