About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking motivated students for its Academic Year Internship Program, offering a chance to work on real projects within a collaborative culture and receive support for professional growth over two full semesters. The program runs from September 21, 2026, to April 23, 2027, requiring a commitment of 16-24 hours per week, with schedules determined by business needs and efforts made to accommodate course schedules. Opportunities are located in Miami, FL. The application timeline includes open applications from April 20th to May 8th, with video interviews in early to mid-May, second-round interviews from mid-June to mid-July, and offers extended throughout July. Applicants must submit a one-page resume, a cover letter highlighting passion and interests, and an unofficial transcript. NBC News is a leading global news organization, providing continuous content across various platforms including TODAY, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press, Dateline NBC, NBC News NOW, and TODAY All Day. This internship specifically supports coverage of the South region for NBC's flagship broadcast network shows and expanding digital platforms, offering exposure to a wide range of news stories from politics to weather to sports. Interns will collaborate with the assignment desk, producers, and correspondents to learn the process of getting a network news story on air.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Miami, FL.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number.
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Providing editorial support to the NBC news assignment desk, including making phone calls, booking interviews, and logging press conferences.
  • Assisting producers with location support, such as booking travel and scouting live shot positions.
  • Pitching, researching, and developing stories for various platforms.
