About The Position

Everforth ECS is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to lead technical design, development, and integration of commercial and governmental marine vessels. The role serves as the technical lead for Ship Work Breakdown Structure (SWBS) Groups 100 (Hull Structure), 200 (Propulsion), and 500 (Auxiliary Systems), with responsibility for quality control, engineering compliance, and design excellence. The PE reviews, verifies, and stamps design packages, calculations, and specifications as needed for classification societies and flag state authorities. The position maps end-user requirements to vessel systems and engineering methods, coordinates interfaces with other SWBS leads, and supports the design spiral, shipyard construction, commissioning, and in-service modifications or drydockings. It includes design reviews, incorporating project feedback and scope changes, and preparing and presenting technical materials for audiences ranging from engineering teams to senior executives. Some travel may be required. The position is remote. For the designated SWBS groups, the engineer designs and evaluates hull forms, scantlings, and foundations; assesses conceptual ship-system designs and identifies work needed for detailed and production design; performs finite element analysis and first-principle calculations; and manages weight monitoring and structural evaluation to support intact and damage stability. The engineer also develops system drawings with assistance from CAD drafters.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5–20+ years of progressive maritime or heavy industrial engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 2D/3D CAD and CAE/FEA software suites.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with engineering leadership and waterfront trades, and to communicate with personnel at varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with remote team members and customers.
