About The Position

The Natural Resources Planner II will serve as an enforcement action case planner and principal project manager, providing general and technical support for the preparation of litigation packages based on administrative orders and civil penalty assessments. The incumbent in this position will develop and implement enforcement strategies to ensure compliance with water pollution control laws and regulations. Responsibilities include managing enforcement actions related to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)/State Discharge Permits for municipal and industrial facilities, NPDES Pretreatment, combined sewer overflow (CSO) and sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) programs, sediment and erosion control, tidal and nontidal wetlands, industrial pretreatment, well and septic systems, and waterway construction.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an environmental science or natural resources planning, management or development.
  • One year of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience enforcing water pollution control laws and regulations as it relates to the federal Clean Water Act (CWA), the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), or state/local laws and regulations.
  • Experience obtaining, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to determine compliance with laws and regulations related to enforcement cases or project management.
  • Experience working with a diverse population, including Engineers, Financial Analysts, Attorneys, Inspectors, local government officials, corporation owners, and the general public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with technical communications referencing laws/regulations, compliance, data, etc.
