Natural Gas Construction Leadman
About The Position
As a Gas Utility Leadman, you report to and support the crew Foreman, helping lead the crew during gas line installation and repair while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role combines leadership with hands-on general labor as needed to keep projects on schedule. Work takes place outdoors, including in potentially extreme weather, and within the “red zone” of heavy equipment. The position requires alertness, safe work practices, and the physical ability to perform repeated lifting and other demanding movements. Schedules may vary, and staying late may be necessary with little or no notice. The position requires maintaining industry-required Operator Qualifications and Union membership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in the gas utility industry.
- Fluent in English, as worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English.
- Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
- Provide valid U.S. work authorization documents for E-Verify.
- Satisfactory pre-employment background check results.
- Pass a pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test and hold or obtain a DOT medical card.
- Join and maintain Union membership.
- Ability to work safely with quick and accurate hand-eye coordination and sustained alertness.
- Ability to work varied schedules and stay late when necessary, sometimes with little or no notice.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising crew personnel on daily job tasks.
- Submit daily reports outlining job activities.
- Assist in managing work sequences to meet customer schedules.
- Follow industry and customer operating procedures and ensure safety and quality.
- Lead the crew when the Foreman is temporarily absent so operations can continue.
- Maintain all industry-required Operator Qualifications.
- Perform general labor and other tasks as requested by leadership.
