About The Position

The National Sales Manager’s primary responsibility is to meet established sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis as outlined in the Marketing Plan and Goal Worksheet. He/she will develop and execute personal action plans directed at the solicitation of key accounts and new account acquisition to include activities such as phone solicitation, marketing, e-mail blasts, site inspections, face to face sales missions and trade show attendance to achieve maximum activity required.

Requirements

  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior hotel sales experience and/or revenue operations.
  • Effective supervisory and communication skills.
  • Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by clients.
  • Well organized and demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • 4-year college degree from accredited university preferred.
  • Excellent group presentation, writing, speaking and training skills.
  • Able to communicate in the English language.
  • Able to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.

Nice To Haves

  • JW Marriott and/or luxury experience preferred.
  • Second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect new group business and research business online.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for proposals.
  • Plan for and execute a predetermined number of sales trips in feeder cities.
  • Attend industry events as indicated in Marketing Plan.
  • Monitor operational execution of accounts with all departments.
  • Research client room night histories for previous meetings and manage room blocks.
  • Plan for and execute executive program presentations in feeder cities.
  • Maintain in-depth account files, including files in CI-TY.
  • Assist in updating database on a continual basis, and performing periodic audits.
  • Understand sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels.
  • Negotiate all rates for group accounts within the guidelines of our budgeted average rate.
  • Exhibit diplomacy, business analysis, negotiation, and proposal writing and presentation skills.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
