About The Position

Chestnut Health Systems' Lighthouse Institute is seeking an experienced National Native Center of Excellence Training Program Director. This is a full-time leadership position supporting the National Native Center of Excellence (NNCOE), which is a Native centered research, training and technical resource center that utilizes strength-based ways to serve Tribal Nations and Native Communities. The NNCOE's work is focused in the intersecting fields of health utilizing Native concepts through a public health lens, prioritizing community and tribally specific knowledges, value systems, and cultural practices. The scope of work encompasses substance misuse and addiction, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, the prevention of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People events, and service to the Native veterans' community.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or relevant lived experience and combination of education
Seven or more (7+) years of experience in building and sustaining diverse tribal partnerships between behavioral health, health, welfare, and other agencies as appropriate.
Five or more years (5+) supervising staff and consultants.
Five or more years in providing services and expertise in Murdered and Missing Indigenous People (MMIP) efforts, crisis response, suicide prevention, and behavioral health needs of AI/AN individuals.
Seasoned skill set in ability to facilitate meetings and work within the cultural and governmental frameworks of Tribal sovereign Nations.
Experience and refined skills in collaborating with national Native experts from diverse Tribal Nations and communities.
Experience developing and coordinating Native and tribally specific value-driven, community-rooted programming.
Deep familiarity, respect for, and comfort with traditional Native value systems, worldviews, protocols, and spiritual perspectives and practices.
Adaptability when encountering changing circumstances
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as well as facilitate collaboration and accountability.
Experience in program management and development.
Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
Experience in and confidence with public speaking.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Possess strong computer skills.
Experience in training and instructional techniques.
Experience in building collaborative relationships between tribal and non-tribal entities and governments.
Experience in presenting to tribal, local, state and federal government councils, commissions and leaders.
Experience successfully managing projects on time and on budget.
Experience in writing reports and communications for a variety of audiences.
Consistent attendance, reliability, and professionalism in performing work duties.
Ability to prioritize work responsibilities to regularly meet deadlines in ample time.
Willingness to travel as necessary.
Willingness to contribute overtime hours occasionally as needed to meet program priorities.

Responsibilities

Develop, cultivate, and grow strategic partnerships with Tribal partners and tribally based community organizations to expand the NNCOE services to Tribal Nations and communities across Indian Country and Alaska.
Coordinate across the NNCOE and affiliated partners on projects, etc.
Communicate regular project/program updates and results to internal staff and external stakeholders.
Maintain regular contact with Tribal and community leaders and staff responsible for NNCOE projects and programs.
Respond to inquiries from Tribal communities regarding the implementation of NNCOE projects and programs.
Provide and/or coordinate training and technical assistance to staff in implementing aspects of NNCOE projects and programs.
Stay current on research-based publications, and state and local policies and initiatives related to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal issues and needs; specifically, suicide prevention, crisis response, and behavioral health in AI/AN communities.
Present at relevant conferences and webinars in areas of expertise and to represent NNCOE.
Identify funding sources that support the vision, philosophy, and service delivery approach of the NNCOE.
Supervise assigned NNCOE staff and consultants.
Prepare quarterly and annual reports on assigned projects and programs.
Promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut’s behavioral standards for customer service.
Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained while performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and client information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
