Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Health Information Management from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure/Certification: RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician with a Bachelors Degree required).
  • At least ten years in HIM leadership experience in a healthcare facility required.
  • Experience in multi-hospital healthcare system at corporate level required.
  • Experience with health information systems (EMR, Meditech, 3M, EPIC, etc.) required.
  • Significant understanding and demonstrated knowledge of health information management programs including medical terminology, ICD-10 CM\PCS coding and CPT coding.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Active participation in Revenue Cycle Operations
  • Ability to gather and analyze and report data and trends.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of confidentiality and privacy laws.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Exemplary customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are absolutely imperative.
  • Demonstrated positive personal influences on teams and customers including the willingness to accept change proactively.
  • Must be flexible and responsive to needs of organization and possess ability to balance the needs of multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (TJC, CMS) regarding Health Information Management coding and operations.
  • Develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures regarding patient records such that patient information requirements are met and appropriate documentation is available for both patient care and reimbursement.
  • Ensure effective customer service is provided to patients, clinicians and other departments.
