About The Position

The National Accounts Manager is responsible for maintaining and expanding Foodservice non-commercial accounts. This role involves collaborating with marketing, business, and trade teams to create sales programs, introducing new products, securing placements, and driving sales initiatives for long-term growth. The manager ensures flawless execution of sales initiatives and works to make things happen with key customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 8+ years’ relevant experience in non-commercial foodservice trade; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics of the food business industry or retail channels.
  • Demonstrated experience of customer-focused and fact-based selling, including IRI, Neilsen and Perishable Group data.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing customer contacts with large National chain accounts
  • Understanding of product cuttings including knowledge of product attributes
  • Knowledge and experience with Tibersoft, Blacksmith, Anaplan

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategic direction for national corporate accounts, aligning Smithfield’s goals with customer objectives and ensuring effective implementation of initiatives.
  • Guide and support sales professionals, including Divisional Directors, Regional Managers, and broker partners, to deliver results across processed and fresh pork categories.
  • Create links between national and divisional Foodservice sales teams for consistent messaging and execution with operator and non-commercial businesses.
  • Expand Smithfield’s Foodservice presence across critical segments like Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, and Convenience Stores.
  • Collaborate with Business Management, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to optimize customer relationships, including pricing, forecasting, innovation, and logistics.
  • Lead the development of category management strategies, balancing branded and distributor portfolios, identifying optimal product mixes, rationalizing SKUs, and launching new items.
  • Drive a positive employee experience through leadership, employee development, and coaching.
