About The Position

As the National Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading the overall sales and marketing strategy for one of the top mechanical, electrical, and plumbing wholesale distributors in New England. This role takes full ownership of the Sales Cycle, including listing presentations, execution, forecasting, POS review, and promotional planning. You will continuously review the competitive landscape to secure proper channel position. This role is responsible for new item recommendations and presentations, POS/Scorecard Analysis, and promotional planning. You will develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with key personnel within assigned accounts, requiring regular planning and communication. The goal is to meet and exceed POS Sales Goals, gain listings for all new product launches from our strategic Business Units (Power Tools, Accessories, Hand Tools, Anchors, and Storage), and roll out national promotional plans for national exposure. You will help negotiate annual customer SBA/VBA agreements, work with field account managers to understand regional and local needs, and support and communicate with field teams regularly to grow business in the field. You will review business with customers on a monthly/quarterly basis to ensure growth targets are met, provide support to end-users on product training through educational and safety seminars, and work with SBD Sales and Marketing Teams to create and drive field programs and events. You will support Product Managers to determine appropriate promotion strategy and New Product launches, develop event promos and flyers based on customers' national event schedules, and partner with the Product NAM Team to coordinate and implement targeted account initiatives. You will coordinate and execute the field support plan within the Commercial field team, work directly with the SBD Account Managers team to drive growth and market share gains with assigned accounts, and effectively manage marketing, promotional, and T&E budgets. You will take ownership of the annual Operating Plan building process and report back on all competitive activity within the national account space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing or related fields
  • 8+ years’ experience in Sales or Marketing focused on the Construction and Industrial channels
  • Prior Sales management and key account experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications; Excel, Power Point, MS Word, & Outlook
  • Strong ability to be flexible and adapt to change in business practices, market changes, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Proven leader and team player with solid track record of success – ability to drive sales growth
  • Demonstrated time management skills, ability to set priorities is required
  • Valid Driver's License & clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally at multiple levels within the business unit (e.g., Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, etc.)
  • National and local customer travel required (60%)
