Narrative and Content Lead

PerceptaNew York, NY
$190,000 - $275,000Onsite

About The Position

The AI transformation space is becoming increasingly saturated, but Percepta has a real competitive advantage: bringing frontier research talent directly inside legacy industries, product judgment about what should actually be built, and the engineering depth to ship it. This role will shape the story of what Percepta does, why they will win, and why the work they do is compelling for executives, customers, and candidates. This is not a copywriting role. The core of the job is to bring clarity through language in an ambiguous, technically complex space. Responsibilities include crafting blog posts and landing pages, establishing the internal vocabulary that aligns how the company talks about its product, shaping the messaging founders carry into meetings, and building naming and framing frameworks. Language is the preferred tool for breaking down complex problems and creating cohesion. This is a first hire, meaning much of the job involves identifying and executing necessary work. The role offers ownership of how the company communicates and is understood. The work has real-world implications, potentially involving documenting on-the-ground work in hospitals or accelerating access to state benefits. This role is for individuals tired of selling software to other software companies.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and editorial craft, with the ability to make technical complexity accessible through language.
  • Ability to ghostwrite a founder essay, craft landing pages, and structure a 16-slide deck, ensuring a consistent company voice.
  • Investigative instinct: proactively asking questions to understand unclear aspects of products, customer problems, or technical concepts.
  • Technical proficiency: sufficient depth to engage seriously with technically complex products and an appetite for continuous learning.
  • Positioning instinct: ability to frame complex, technical offerings with words that resonate with specific readers, considering category and message architecture.
  • Stakeholder management and synthesis abilities: experience working with senior stakeholders and providing strategic messaging counsel, including respectful challenges.
  • Self-direction: ability to set the bar and hold it in a near-solo function at an early-stage company without a manager providing briefs.

Nice To Haves

  • Design eye: experience with brand design or product design, understanding aesthetics and visual design critique.
  • Systems and architecture sense: ability to think in structure and sequence, seeing the shape of a product or deck and naming its parts.
  • Experience in product or design roles close to technical teams, fostering positioning instinct and fast technical uptake.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the language of the mission and product, developing naming systems, sharpening product architecture language, and driving coherence.
  • Craft external narrative collateral, including CEO vision pieces, conference narratives and pitches, and long-form market positioning pieces.
  • Establish and amplify the brand by defining it and determining the right media for expression, potentially including landing pages, website copy, pitch decks, case studies, and social copy.
  • Make technical concepts accessible by sitting with research and engineering teams, understanding the substance, and translating it with precision for different audiences.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape the company's communication and understanding.
  • Work on meaningful projects with real-world implications.
  • Collaborate with leading companies in AI transformation.
