About The Position

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking an experienced, field-based commercial professional to drive adoption and growth of Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies across Québec and Atlantic Canada. This role is ideal for a consultative sales professional who thrives in complex scientific environments and enjoys building long-term strategic customer relationships. You will be responsible for expanding adoption of the GridION and PromethION platforms within academic, government, biotech, and clinical research-focused organizations. Success in this role requires strong strategic account management, technical fluency, and the ability to navigate sophisticated scientific purchasing processes. This is a remote, field-based position. Candidates must be based in the Greater Montréal area and able to travel throughout Québec and Atlantic Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of field-based commercial experience.
  • At least 3 years selling scientific instrumentation, capital equipment, or complex laboratory solutions.
  • Experience in the NGS market or related genomics fields strongly preferred.
  • Proven success managing complex consultative sales processes in competitive environments.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, forecasting, and CRM systems.
  • Ability to translate scientific needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a matrixed international organization.
  • Established relationships with scientific and operational stakeholders within the territory.
  • Strong initiative, sound judgment, and ability to manage complex commercial opportunities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a high-potential commercial territory with accountability for achieving revenue and growth targets.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to increase instrument placements, consumables sales, and long-term customer value.
  • Build strong relationships with universities, research institutes, government organizations, and core facilities.
  • Support research groups and stakeholders in evaluating and adopting Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms across diverse scientific applications.
  • Partner with biotech companies and clinical research organizations to support adoption of Oxford Nanopore technologies for translational and workflow-driven research applications.
  • Engage cross-functional customer teams throughout complex evaluation and purchasing processes.
  • Manage consultative sales cycles involving capital equipment, applications development, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Effectively engage with principal investigators, procurement teams, core facility directors, institutional leadership, and translational research groups.
  • Position Oxford Nanopore solutions effectively within competitive NGS environments by aligning platform capabilities with customer research goals and technical needs.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers and influential scientific stakeholders.
  • Support customer success initiatives and reference site development.
  • Work closely with Inside Sales, Field Applications Scientists, and Marketing teams to deliver a high-quality customer experience.
  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline using consultative sales methodologies.
  • Deliver accurate forecasting, CRM updates, competitive intelligence, and funnel reporting.
  • Represent Oxford Nanopore at conferences, workshops, seminars, and scientific events throughout the territory.
  • Participate in required training programs and maintain compliance with company policies, reporting requirements, and safety standards.
