Musician Volunteers - Kimmel Center
About The Position
We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic musician volunteers to play in the lobby of our Kimmel Outpatient Center. As a musician volunteer you will play in the main lobby of the center, enhancing the patient experience as visitors enter and exit the building. Musicians must bring their own instruments to their volunteer shifts. This is an unpaid volunteer role. The Volunteer Department does not manage paid employment, internships, shadowing, or educational programs. Our program provides meaningful, long-term opportunities for individuals who wish to support patients, families and staff in an impactful way.
Requirements
- Age 16+
- Able to commit to a weekly 2-hour shift for at least 6 months.
- If a former or current MSK patient, must be out of active treatment for at least one year.
- Comfortable performing various music genres in lobby spaces with patients, visitors, and staff passing by.
- Friendly and comfortable engaging with patients, families, and staff.
- Reliable.
- Complete virtual interview (may be asked to perform a piece of music or provide a recording/video).
- Pass 2-3 reference checks.
- Pass background check & drug screen (18+ only).
- Obtain medical clearance (flu and other immunizations required; at applicant’s expense).
- Complete onboarding within 4-6 weeks.
