About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. TMH is the region's healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care with a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and the most advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic & surgery programs in the Panhandle. Our system also includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs and more than 50 affiliated physician practices. This role provides educational and therapeutic interventions (coinciding with other treatment modalities) constructive and beneficial to patients’ mental health. The Music Therapist manages materials, oversees students, and demonstrates an understanding of diversity. They must also demonstrate integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values), enhance and contribute to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients, and perform miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in music therapy (including coursework or an internship in a medical setting) from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved program
  • Music Therapist--Board Certified (MT-BC) credential from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in music therapy (including coursework or an internship in a medical setting) from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved program.
  • One (1) year of professional experience in a medical setting.
