About The Position
Zeta is seeking passionate Music Teachers for their schools in the Bronx (Tremont). The role involves delivering a high-quality music education that fosters joy, creativity, and deep engagement in students. Teachers will build an inclusive classroom culture, use data to drive student progress, and develop strong relationships with students and families. Collaboration with colleagues and participation in whole-school initiatives are also key aspects of the position. The role includes leading an after-school music program. Zeta is committed to academic achievement and social-emotional development, aiming to change the landscape of public education in New York City and beyond. The organization is growing and will be opening its first high school in the 2026-27 school year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 1-2+ years of teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong content knowledge and passion for music education
- Mindset of growth, flexibility, and openness to feedback
- Hungry and determined to not only meet your goals but surpass them
- Humble, willing to put the team’s needs ahead of your own, and committed to contributing to a collaborative work environment
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Execute a bold vision of excellence in music education, designing inquiry-driven, musically rigorous lessons that inspire joy, creativity, and deep engagement for all students.
- Build a vibrant, inclusive classroom culture where students develop a genuine love for music and families feel connected to a strong, welcoming community.
- Use data, student work, and research-based instructional tools to monitor progress, refine instruction, and drive student growth in musical knowledge and skill.
- Develop authentic, trusting relationships with students and families to support each child’s personal, academic, and artistic development.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and engage in ongoing professional learning, embracing feedback and coaching to continuously strengthen your teaching practice.
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives and provide instructional support as needed, ensuring music is meaningfully integrated into the broader school experience.
- Lead a high-quality after-school music program that deepens students’ passion, builds technical skill, and expands opportunities for performance and enrichment.
