About The Position

The school is an independent, coeducational day school dedicated to providing an excellent instructional program for children with language-based learning disabilities. The multisensory curriculum is designed for students of average to superior intelligence who can benefit from the unique educational experience provided. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required
Three years of teaching experience minimum
Maternity leave Replacement from January 2027 to end of school year.

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree preferred
Advanced Certification in Music Education preferred
Experience with music and sound tech preferred
Experience with both lower and Middle school music teaching strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide a high standard of care and teaching to students during school hours, including vigilance around both safety and learning
Teach foundational music rhythmic and melodic skills; teach a wide range of music techniques, genres, vocal coaching, variety of instruments, composition.
Teach general, choral based music classes in grades 2, 3, 4 and 7.
Willingness to learn and adhere to Windward's teaching methodology is required.
Required skills include ability to accompany students on piano, read music, teach basic skills on ukulele and xylophone, work collaboratively across departments to prepare spring concert and art show.
Duties include completing quarterly progress reports and reports cards, attending parent teacher conferences as requested.
Maintain student records with regard to attendance, achievement, and reports
Maintain a “prepared” environment in the classroom and other areas used for instruction
Understanding of basic vocal pedagogy required.
Experience with teaching lower school music required.
Experience with both lower and Middle school music teaching strongly preferred.

Perform various reasonable tasks from time to time as requested by the Campus Head, Associate Campus head, Campus Head Associate and Head of School
