About The Position

The Music Teacher's primary goal is to foster critical thinking, effective communication, cultural understanding, respect for human dignity, and responsible citizenship in students. This role involves instructing students in music, managing the classroom, assessing student progress, and collaborating with parents and staff to support the School District of Lancaster's Music Program and Strategic Plan.

Requirements

Appropriate PA teacher certification.
BA required in appropriate major study.
Ability to organize a classroom to deliver the School District of Lancaster Music program.
Strong communication and motivational skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff, and parents.

Nice To Haves

Masters degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform instrumental music, vocalize, conduct, compose, and improvise, demonstrating ability to move to complex rhythms.
Provide performing opportunities for students.
Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
Maintain good classroom organization, management, and discipline.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress to ensure continuous growth.
Implement the School District of Lancaster Music Program for each student in alignment with the Strategic Plan goals.
Demonstrate appropriate planning, utilize diverse instructional techniques and strategies, and incorporate technology where possible.
Maintain student records and complete all required paperwork.
Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day as reasonably required.
Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities.
Plan purposeful assignments for volunteers.
Attend staff and department meetings, and serve on building and District committees as required.
Maintain musical instrument inventory.
Maintain all uniforms and choir gowns where applicable.
Participate in District musical functions.
