About The Position

Develops and implements music instruction designed to promote effective student learning and to enhance student creativity. Promotes the educational growth of students, commensurate with student ability as described in individualized educational plans (IEP). Assesses student music progress and encourages and guides individual student growth in music throughout the school year. Ability to relate to culturally diverse students desired.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey Teacher of Music Certification and/or other such appropriate certificate as required by the State of New Jersey Board of Examiners.
  • Highly developed skills in assessing students musical needs through teaching and observations.
  • Highly developed skills in translating diagnostic data into appropriate instructional plans.
  • Ability to use internal and external resources creatively.
  • Communicating effectively with students, parents and staff.
  • Developing and implementing music instruction designed to promote positive adjustment and effective student learning in school.
  • Willingness to work with students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess the physical and mental capacity to perform major job responsibilities including but not limited to the ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Must be NJ resident within one year from date of hire.
