About The Position

Bach to Rock Herndon is seeking a musician to lead early childhood music programs for children ages 1 through 7 and their families. The role involves teaching 4 to 8 classes per week, depending on availability and class schedules. The programs include Rock N Roll (ages 1-3, parent-and-child), Rock City® (ages 3-5, preschool group class), Kids N Keys (ages 5-7, group piano class), and Fun With Music (ages 6-7, multi-instrument exploration). Teachers will be assigned a mix of classes based on their strengths and enrollment.

Requirements

  • Functionally proficient on piano AND at least one of: guitar, ukulele, voice.
  • Ability to accompany simple children's songs.
  • Sing in tune with confidence.
  • Ability to read sheet music and chord charts.
  • Ability to transpose simple things on the fly.
  • At least some experience with young children (teaching, camp counseling, music ministry, parenting, summer camp, family ESL classes, etc.).
  • Ability to reliably commute to the studio in Herndon.
  • Must be 18+, able to pass a background check, and authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Music Education degree (B.M.E. or M.M.E.).
  • Performance degree from a conservatory.
  • Active gigging experience (band, ensemble, solo, session work).
  • Kindermusik, Music Together, Musikgarten, or similar EC certifications.
  • Multilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early childhood music programs for children ages 1-7.
  • Teach 4 to 8 classes per week.
  • Lead sing-alongs, story time, and instrument exploration.
  • Teach basic finger placement and simple songs on piano.
  • Facilitate multi-instrument exploration.
  • Focus on the music while the company handles marketing, enrollment, billing, and parent communication.
