Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability and willingness to work an extended schedule.
  • Proven ability to work well with children, adults, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze raw data and develop goals for students.
  • Experience working with a diverse population including low to moderate-income families.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
  • Instrumental or vocal skills.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Deal with sensitive material in a confidential manner.
  • Establish and maintain co-operative relationships with those contacted during the performance of required duties, including school personnel, students, parents, and the community.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing.
  • Teach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of handicapping conditions.
  • Ability to prepare lesson plans and organize a meaningful instructional program.
  • Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to critically evaluate the educational achievements of students and to give assignments according to their interests and ability.
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise patience, caring, and concern in new and sometimes stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct instruction to all scholars.
  • Developing lesson plans and curriculum materials to support educational development.
  • Demonstrating strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational ability.
  • Teaching music education to scholars (K-8).
  • Helping scholars grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through singing, moving to music, playing instruments, and listening.
  • Developing daily and unit lesson plans and a scope and sequence that are thoughtful, goal-oriented, and aligned with curriculum, integrating technology.
  • Maintaining pace of learning and providing opportunities for student differences.
  • Checking for student understanding and conveying appropriately high expectations for students.
  • Creating and maintaining a classroom environment to encourage all students to be engaged and work toward meeting the standards.
  • Maintaining accurate, thorough records of student achievement and behavioral performance.
  • Completing progress and grade reports promptly and as scheduled.
  • Complying with policies, regulations, and procedures of Global Leadership Academy West.
  • Communicating effectively with parents.
  • Working collaboratively with staff.
  • Displaying high-level professional conduct and image at all times.
  • Establishing and maintaining an acceptable attendance record.
  • Participating in extra-curricular activities and/or leadership roles outside the classroom.
  • Continuing to grow as a professional educator with classes/workshops for professional development and coaching and feedback from administrators and peers.
  • Using and applying simulations and technological innovations in the classroom in pursuit of instructional strategies.
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by CEO, Principal, or Special Education Director.
