This position is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Key duties include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom environment, implementing effective classroom management, and completing administrative tasks in a timely manner. The role involves planning and preparing for classes, submitting weekly lesson plans, and adhering to school policies and schedules. The teacher will also become knowledgeable about system methods, programs, and resources, using various diagnostic and placement methods. Professional conduct, including self-control and decorum, is expected, along with providing for individual differences and continually evaluating student progress. Cooperation with school and central office personnel, encouraging parent involvement, and demonstrating professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation are essential. The teacher must conform to Louisiana laws regarding student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assist in the development of quality education within Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The role also includes planning for and participating in the evaluation process, and performing other duties as assigned by the principal.
