About The Position

The Music Organizations Usher Student Manager is a student employee position at St. Olaf College responsible for managing a team of concert ushers and ushering at on-campus concerts held in Boe Chapel and Skoglund. This role involves training ushers, managing schedules, ensuring event coverage, and performing ushering duties.

Requirements

At least one year of previous experience as a Concert Usher or equivalent experience
Experience with music concerts/performances
Excellent organizational skills
Clear communication
Understanding of general concert etiquette
Interpersonal skills
Ability to problem solve and remain calm in hectic situations
Strong leadership
Ability to work weekends and evenings
Ability to stay positive under stress
Ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

Lead usher team training
Manage shift sign up and weekly shift assignments
Assign leaders for each concert shift 5 days before the concert
Ensure all coworkers remember their shifts by creating event invites in google calendar
Facilitate and manage shift subs
Usher at least 5 events during the year
Hand out programs and pink cards
Collect pink cards following the concert
Monitor the event from start to finish
Assist audience members as needed
Report to shifts in a timely manner, 50 minutes prior to concert
Other duties as assigned
