About The Position

School of Rock is a performance-based music education provider focused on enriching lives through music. Music Instructors teach vocals and other musical fundamentals through private lessons, rehearsals, and shows, creating a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires students. The instructor helps students develop music and life skills while positively embodying rock and roll. School of Rock teaches keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, and seeks to engage instructors’ broader musical talents when possible. The role includes music instruction as well as communication with students and parents, participation in school operations, and adherence to the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies. Availability is needed Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
Excellent ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
Strong organizational skills.
Very strong customer relations skills.
Resourcefulness and good problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
Good judgment.
Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

Maximize the quality of music instruction, including private lessons and shows.
Ensure students learn music fundamentals, not just songs.
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
Communicate regularly with parents about student progress after lessons.
Interact regularly with parents and students by being visible and accessible in the school.
Pitch in during canceled lessons to support execution of the overall program.
Assist with rehearsals and basic maintenance in the school.
Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
