About The Position

School of Rock is a performance-based music education community that teaches music through shows. The Music Instructor is responsible for music education in lessons and rehearsals, creating an engaging experience that challenges and inspires students while helping them develop musical and life skills. The role includes providing private lessons and instruction at shows, teaching music fundamentals, and preparing and documenting lesson plans. Instructors also communicate with parents about student progress, remain accessible to students and families at the school, support the program when lessons are canceled, assist with rehearsals and basic school maintenance, and follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
Ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
Strong organizational skills.
Very strong customer relations skills.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
Good judgment.
Passion for teaching.

Nice To Haves

Working musician with formal music school training.
Broader musical talent beyond the five core areas of keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums.

Responsibilities

Maximize the quality of music instruction, including private lessons and shows.
Teach students the fundamentals of music, not just songs.
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
Communicate regularly with parents about student progress after lessons.
Interact regularly with parents and students by being visible and accessible at the school.
Pitch in during canceled lessons to support execution of the overall program.
Assist in rehearsals and basic school maintenance.
Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
