About The Position

School of Rock is seeking a Music Instructor to provide music education through private lessons and rehearsals. The instructor creates a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires students, helping them develop music and life skills. School of Rock teaches five core areas—keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums—and may engage teachers’ broader musical abilities where appropriate.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Very strong customer relations skills.
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Good judgment.
• Passion for teaching.

Nice To Haves

• Working musician with formal music school training.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction in private lessons and shows.
• Ensure students learn music fundamentals, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents about students’ progress after lessons.
• Interact regularly with parents and students by being visible and accessible at the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons to support the overall execution of the program.
• Assist with rehearsals and basic school maintenance.
• Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
