About The Position

Bach To Rock (“B2R”), America’s Music School for students of all ages, is seeking a part-time Music Teacher - Instructor to provide music and performance lessons. Teachers use the Bach to Rock curriculum to provide students of all ages with an inspiring, well-balanced music education. They teach theory and technique through music students know and love, helping musicians develop skills for performing in bands, recording in the studio, and composing original music. The position offers a flexible part-time schedule in a fun environment with other musicians. B2R handles marketing, scheduling, booking, billing, and other business aspects so teachers can focus on instruction. The hourly rate is based on education, experience, expertise, and availability. The school operates a 2,600-square-foot music studio. Nights and weekend availability are needed. Ability to teach violin and cello is especially valued.

Requirements

Demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and communicate them effectively to students.
Have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to the primary instrument.
Have effective time-management and organizational skills to keep students on task during lessons.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities.
Be an experienced performer, either solo or in a group.
Have experience working with youth and/or beginning musicians.
Be able to interact effectively with children and adults.
Be able to pass a background check.
Be available to work nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Ability to teach violin and cello.
Associate degree preferred.
One year of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach private and semi-private lessons using the Bach to Rock curriculum and cover song arrangements.
Create an encouraging, fun, and focused lesson atmosphere.
Assess students’ readiness to join a band or ensemble.
Assist at school events.
Repair equipment as needed and able.
