About The Position

The Cline School of Music at North Greenville University is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking professional to implement our Bachelor of Music in Music Industry program. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between traditional music excellence and modern commercial enterprise, mentoring the next generation of artists, managers, and entrepreneurs. Applicants should have a background and/or professional experience in music industry including music technology, music recording/ live sound, and music business. Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework. North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith, are role models in their piety and ethics, are regularly reflecting upon how their faith influences their discipline and are willing and able to mentor students in their own relationship with Jesus Christ. Faculty are expected to: Teach in accordance with, and not contrary to the “Baptist Faith and Message 2000.” Teach in accordance with, and not contrary to the university’s “Statement on Human Flourishing.” Abide by the employee and faculty handbooks, including community standard agreements. Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Music Industry, Music Business, Commercial Music, or a degree in a closely related field and a resume including considerable music industry experience.
  • Experience and a passion for teaching
  • Understand and comply with FERPA regulations
  • Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model

  • Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct classes as assigned
  • Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
  • Prepare lesson plans and course material as required
  • Effectively organize and present subject matter to students
  • Objectively assess students for academic performance
  • Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation
  • Effectively utilize Canvas learning management system
  • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
  • Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission
  • Have a working knowledge of the latest software and technology related to the music industry.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience serving in the music industry
