About The Position

The Cline School of Music at North Greenville University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member in Voice. Primary responsibility will be teaching private contemporary voice lessons to undergraduate students. North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith, are role models in their piety and ethics, are regularly reflecting upon how their faith influences their discipline and are willing and able to mentor students in their own relationship with Jesus Christ. Faculty of the University shall, by accepting each year’s employment agreement, annually Affirm an understanding of, and willingness not to teach contrary to, the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 Affirm understanding of, and willingness not to teach contrary to, the University’s Statement on Human Flourishing

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in vocal music or a related field
  • Successful record of private studio teaching required
  • Excellent musicianship, including fluent keyboard skills to support voice instruction required
  • Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree
  • Tenor or Baritone preferred
  • Successful college-level teaching is preferred
  • Training and expertise in Estill Voice Training (EVT), Somatic Voicework (the LoVetri Method), or Contemporary Commercial Music strongly preferred
  • If no contemporary training, the candidate will be asked to acquire these skills
  • Evidence of scholarly potential

Responsibilities

  • Teaching private contemporary voice lessons to undergraduate students, including elective, minors, music industry and worship students
  • Teaching Class Voice
  • Supporting the overall voice department
  • Prepare for course(s) by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
  • Prepare lesson plans and course material as required
  • Effectively organize and present subject matter to students
  • Objectively assess students for academic performance
  • Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation
  • Effectively utilize Canvas learning management system
  • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
  • Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission
