About The Position

The Music Director leads Ecclesia’s musical life as a shared expression of worship, formation, hospitality, and mission across our three campuses. This role stewards the people, systems, and practices that support music in our current gatherings while imagining what could grow through other creative and missional expressions. Rooted in Ecclesia’s rhythms and values, this role cultivates a healthy community of musicians, creatives, and leaders, creating clear pathways for gifts to be discovered, developed, and shared. With musical depth, relational wisdom, and the ability to bring structure to creative work, this role helps music serve the Ecclesia community holistically.

Requirements

  • Spiritually grounded and aligned with Ecclesia’s rhythms, values, and mission.
  • Skilled musician with the ability to lead, direct, arrange, and support music in worship gatherings.
  • Experienced in recruiting, equipping, caring for, and developing musicians, creatives, and volunteers.
  • Relationally wise, with the ability to build trust, foster belonging, and cultivate healthy teams.
  • Organized and dependable, able to manage schedules, communication, planning tools, and budgets.
  • Collaborative leader who works well across ministry and operations teams.
  • Culturally aware and attentive to the diversity of Houston and Ecclesia’s three campuses.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the musical preparation of worship gatherings across campuses while providing direct musical leadership within an assigned campus context.
  • Ensure musicians are scheduled, prepared, and supported for worship gatherings.
  • Lead thoughtful song selection that reflects Ecclesia’s theology, rhythms, and community.
  • Actively participate in leading weekly worship gatherings as a singer, musician, and/or director.
  • Coordinate or support music for special services, seasonal gatherings, and other churchwide moments.
  • Cultivate a healthy community of musicians, creatives, and leaders who serve the life of the church.
  • Recruit, equip, and care for musicians and volunteers across campuses.
  • Develop emerging leaders, including music directors, vocalists, instrumentalists, and team coordinators.
  • Create clear pathways for people to discover, grow, and share their musical gifts.
  • Set up and strengthen the systems that allow music ministry to function with clarity and consistency.
  • Oversee scheduling, communication, planning, budgets, and music-related administrative processes.
  • Coordinate with ministry, operations, and campus teams regarding resources and preparation needs.
  • Build sustainable rhythms that help musicians and leaders be prepared, supported, and fully present.
  • Explore and develop new ways music can serve Ecclesia’s community, campuses, and mission.
  • Cultivate creative expressions that reflect Ecclesia’s values, diversity, and love for the city.
  • Identify opportunities for music beyond regular gatherings, such as kids and student participation, songwriting, recordings, choirs, community events, and special services.
  • Partner with ministry leaders to connect music with formation, hospitality, outreach, and shared life.
  • Help shape musical expressions that reflect the cultures, languages, and communities of each campus, including Lindale’s emerging Spanish-language repertoire.
