About The Position

NOCCCD is now accepting applications for Music/Choral Studies Instructor Pool-Part-Time at Fullerton College! Choral classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Fall.

Requirements

• Master’s in music OR Bachelor’s in music AND Master’s in humanities OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR the equivalent.
• Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience within the area of choral ensembles, especially introductory collegiate or introductory adult ensembles.

Responsibilities

• Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.
• Proficient knowledge of vocal pedagogy and healthy, safe singing technique.
• A pedagogical approach built on rehearsal techniques that emphasize music literacy, musicianship, and music theory knowledge.
• Experience with selecting repertoire that is both developmentally and ensemble-level appropriate.
• Demonstrated experience with teaching practices supporting success, recruitment, and retention of students of color, students with disabilities, and other historically underrepresented students.
• Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
