About The Position

A-Players is partnering with GRAI to hire their first Music & Artist Relations Lead. GRAI is an artist-first AI music platform where fans can remix and share real music, and artists can opt in and earn new royalties. This role is focused on the 'AI working for artists' narrative, not 'AI replacing artists'. The company is backed by a $9M seed round co-led by Khosla Ventures and Inovo VC, and founded by serial entrepreneurs with a successful previous exit. GRAI is launching in September, has approximately 100 artists in its ambassador program, and a live product called Music with Friends on iOS. This is a 0 to 1 leadership position reporting directly to the CEO. The successful candidate will build the artist relations function from scratch, leveraging existing early traction. The role involves owning the artist relationship end-to-end, building a team, and having direct founder access and product influence from day one.

Requirements

  • Senior music-industry operator with experience leading artist- or partnership-focused teams.
  • Established relationships within the US emerging and mid-tier artist community.
  • Fluency in understanding both artist creativity and partnership business dynamics.
  • Proven track record of building functions from scratch and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability in both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in music-tech or the creator economy (e.g., streaming platforms, artist tools, creator or social products).
  • Experience building an artist or ambassador program from scratch, with measurable results.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, pre-launch environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define the artist strategy for GRAI, focusing on how to win and retain artists at each growth stage.
  • Build and optimize the artist pipeline through various channels including networks, platforms, events, and social media, managing the process from first contact to active partnership.
  • Design and scale onboarding, co-marketing, content integrations, and the ambassador program.
  • Manage key artist relationships personally while developing systems for a future team.
  • Hire, develop, and lead the artist relations function as it grows.
  • Represent the artist's perspective in product, marketing, and leadership decisions.
  • Identify and surface partnership opportunities across campaigns, content, and events.

Benefits

  • A ground-floor leadership seat with direct founder access and product influence.
  • Meaningful early-stage equity at a well-funded music-tech company.
  • Competitive cash and equity compensation, flexible for the right candidate.
  • Remote work within the US (LA or NYC are a plus).
  • Flexible ways of working.
