About The Position

This is a seasonal, part-time position with varying weekly hours (up to 24). The schedule includes weekdays, Saturdays, and some Sundays, with potential for evening hours and special event coverage. The primary function is to provide a positive shopping and customer service experience to museum shop patrons, upholding Post's gracious hospitality standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency of sales and customer service techniques.
  • Education, experience or passion for museums, art galleries or gardens.
  • Polished customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic math and computer access skills are essential.
  • Must be able to make change in American monetary units.
  • Work well with a diverse group of colleagues and an international clientele.
  • Flexible to the changing needs of each day, and have the ability to handle a fast-paced environment while providing a quality visitor experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming shopping experience by greeting visitors, answering questions, and demonstrating knowledge of Hillwood and its products.
  • Inspire customers to purchase by asking questions, suggesting products, and making personal connections to encourage return visits.
  • Provide a professional and gracious customer experience in person, via phone, mail, or online.
  • Master all Museum Shop systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and internal customer service by completing support duties to the highest standard.
  • Total bills, accept payments, and accurately make change for customers.
  • Operate cash register with integrated credit card processing.
  • Handle all returns courteously and professionally.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of Hillwood, MMP, and the collections.
  • Develop product knowledge to communicate its connection to the Hillwood story.
  • Maintain displays and restock merchandise as needed.
  • Maintain store appearance, including tidying displays, cleaning, and keeping the cash wrap area neat.
  • Open the store, including counting registers, ensuring adequate change, verifying the safe, and engaging lights and music.
  • Accurately remove and record cash and checks from the register at the end of the shift.
  • Stamp, mark, or accurately tag merchandise prices according to established protocols.
  • Inform leadership of special orders and requests.
  • Inform leadership of low stock levels.
  • Adhere to Loss Prevention and inventory control procedures.
  • Provide support with receiving, pricing, inventory, and other functions as needed.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory.
  • Efficiently and accurately use point of sale software.
