About The Position

The Museum Restoration Shop Supervisor supervises restoration technicians and directs workflow to ensure safe, productive restoration and repair of WPHF Museum assets, Waste Pro vehicles, and equipment. The role involves examining vehicles and equipment, determining repair solutions, planning and prioritizing work, and performing restoration tasks such as welding, modifying, disassembly, reassembly, and painting. The supervisor also oversees repair orders, project records, parts procurement within assigned spending limits, shop cleanliness, employee training and performance, and compliance with safety rules. Larger purchases or major repairs are referred to the Museum Director. The shop environment includes machinery, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, paint, dust, and fumes. Work may take place inside the facility or outdoors, with exposure to weather, truck and maintenance-facility vibrations, chemical and residential waste, and occasional extreme weather. Physical duties include pushing, pulling, dragging, and lifting items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally working at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
At least two years of vehicle repair, restoration, and collision experience.
At least two years of supervisory or progressively responsible lead-role experience.
Knowledge of autobody and mechanical restoration of vehicles and equipment.
Familiarity with toolboxes and tools commonly used for body repairs, part removal, installation, and painting.
Ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk, jog, twist, crouch, and lift; sufficient stamina to maintain a steady work pace throughout the day.
Ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by the company.

Responsibilities

Supervise and assist restoration technicians responsible for repair, restoration, and maintenance of Waste Pro Historical Foundation equipment and Waste Pro machinery and heavy-duty equipment, including rear-load, front-load, roll-off, grapple, portable restroom, and container equipment.
Direct workflow to support safe, productive, and high-quality restoration and repair work.
Examine vehicles and equipment, determine repair solutions, plan and prioritize work, and perform restoration tasks including welding, modifying, disassembly, reassembly, and painting.
Prepare and review repair orders to ensure labor, materials, and parts are properly charged and work follows established guidelines.
Maintain a spreadsheet of projects performed in the shop.
Maintain a clean and effective shop environment.
Recommend hiring actions; coach, counsel, and evaluate employees; identify training opportunities; monitor attendance; and complete disciplinary actions or meetings using Positive Leadership principles.
Train employees in proper work methods and equipment operation, and enforce safety rules and regulations.
Identify equipment and parts needs and procure parts within assigned spending limits; refer larger purchases or major repairs to the Museum Director as appropriate.
Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with managers, painters, body technicians, welders, mechanics, and administrative staff.
Attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.
Keep up to date on current technology used by Waste Pro, as appropriate to the job.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
