The Municipal Enforcement Officer performs enforcement duties related to municipal bylaws, provincial statutes, and designated Criminal Code authorities where the offence is not in progress. These authorities include Theft Under $5,000 and Mischief Under $5,000. The Municipal Enforcement Officer conducts investigations, seizes and handles evidence and exhibits, and completes the required follow-up and enforcement actions through to file conclusion. These responsibilities support the enforcement of municipal bylaws, provincial statutes, and applicable Criminal Code authorities. This position also participates in crime prevention, public education, and community awareness initiatives within public spaces throughout the City of Red Deer. Municipal Enforcement Officers are responsible for the service of legal documents, court attendance, assisting police officers with the recovery and return of stolen, lost, and found property, and conducting proactive patrols within the City of Red Deer’s park and transit systems.
