About The Position

Our USGO Upland Prairie - Williston Area is seeking a multiskilled team orientated Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technician who is proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating natural gas compressor station and meter station control systems, measurement equipment, and other related facilities. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills. This position is overtime eligible and extended work hours may be required on occasion without advance notice including nights, weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum completion of the second year of a trades program, where applicable, or two years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institution.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
  • All applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions.
  • Background screening is required for all positions, which may include criminal and/or credit checks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain natural gas compression equipment and auxiliary systems, including large-bore reciprocating engines, gas compressors, standby generators, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, air compressors, low-pressure boilers, oil coolers, cooler fans, gearboxes, valves, operators, and related equipment.
  • Support the installation, testing, repair, operation, and maintenance of compressor station and pipeline facilities, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Assist with full or partial overhauls of large-bore reciprocating engines and gas compressors, including heads, pistons, rings, liners, pins, bushings, bearings, and related components.
  • Perform troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and system improvements while identifying opportunities to improve maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
  • Perform precision measurements, equipment alignment, and mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
  • Read, interpret, update, and work from mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation.
  • Operate, maintain, inspect, repair, and set valves, regulators, relief valves, control valves, shutdown devices, over-pressure protection devices, and associated equipment.
  • Learn, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fire and gas systems, PLCs, control systems, HVAC systems, auxiliary systems, and other station equipment.
  • Analyze engine and equipment performance data and reports to identify operating or maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with pipeline repairs and maintenance, including blowing down, purging, and pressurizing pipelines and/or stations as required.
  • Perform storage field facility operations and maintenance, including valve maintenance, rigging, equipment operation, and other assigned tasks.
  • Participate in emergency repairs, equipment outages, and other operational activities while supporting customer/client needs as directed.
  • Perform qualified tasks independently once competency and authorization have been established, while working under the direction and approval of supervision as required.
  • Complete work orders, job plans, maintenance records, administrative assignments, and other required documentation using SAP and applicable company systems.
  • Maintain required operator qualifications, technical task certifications, and competency requirements established by the company.
  • Follow all company, regulatory, safety, environmental, and community standards and demonstrate a commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training, coaching, mentoring, and skills development to maintain and expand trade qualifications.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and other personnel to safely and efficiently complete assigned work and support continuous improvement initiatives.
