About The Position

The Multiskilled Technician supports Emergency Department operations at Marshall Medical Centers North by performing unit secretary, emergency department technician, and patient access clerk functions. As a member of the healthcare team, the role assists with planning, organizing, and implementing nursing-station activities through clerical work and maintenance of the area's physical environment. The Emergency Department Technician supports patient flow and care under the direction of an emergency department physician or nurse. Patient access duties require flexibility, accuracy, teamwork, a positive team spirit, and adherence to Marshall Medical Center North’s standards.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to cope with high levels of stress.
• Proficiency and accuracy, teamwork, and ability to promote a positive team spirit.
• Computer, telephone, customer service, fax machine, scanner, credit card machine, and copy machine skills.

Nice To Haves

• CPAR certification (optional).
• Basic Life Support certification (optional).
• Crisis Prevention Institute training (optional).

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing activities at nursing stations.
• Perform clerical duties and maintain the physical environment of the nursing-station area.
• Assist with emergency department flow and patient care under the direction of an ED physician or nurse.
• Obtain EKGs and vital signs.
• Transport patients.
• Collect and transport laboratory specimens when competent to do so.
• Use computers, fax machines, scanners, telephones, credit card machines, and copy machines for patient-access work.
• Provide customer service and handle upfront collections and deposits.
• Make Accureg corrections.
