About The Position

KTVB-TV Boise, the NBC TEGNA affiliate, is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to create unique, memorable, well-written stories for multiple platforms. The role combines reporting, photography, editing, production, and digital distribution, with an emphasis on creative storytelling that goes beyond traditional television news. The journalist must have a current driver’s license and be able to operate a news-gathering vehicle to and from various locations.

Requirements

• Current driver’s license and ability to operate a news-gathering vehicle to and from various locations.
• Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
• Strong writing, production, and tease-writing skills.
• Organization and ability to work under constant deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live breaking-news situations and changing events.
• Proven ability to create social and digital content.

Nice To Haves

• 1–3 years of reporting experience preferred.
• ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Boise is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots during developing stories and breaking news situations.
• Develop story ideas and find community sources who can provide information about events and areas of expertise.
• Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework, researching facts and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources to strengthen reporting.
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit on-air and online content within deadlines.
• Use creative production techniques, including graphics and new forms of media such as viewer pictures and webcam interviews, to enhance stories.
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.
