About The Position

The Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible neurologist with fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology. The selected candidate will join a faculty that includes two other MS fellowship-trained physicians, experienced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and dedicated MS nurse case managers. This role involves enhancing the Multiple Sclerosis program, developing community services, and expanding access for patients with MS and other CNS demyelinating conditions through telemedicine. The position includes teaching responsibilities for MS fellows, neurology residents, and students, participation in research activities, and providing inpatient and outpatient services. UNMC offers strong research opportunities, including current MS clinical trials. The MS Clinic serves over 2000 patients, is recognized as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and is affiliated with the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC). The clinic benefits from a dedicated pharmacy team for timely MS therapies and patient support, as well as collaborations with neuroradiology, neuroophthalmology, urology, uro-gynecology, rehab medicine, spasticity and intrathecal baclofen clinic, psychiatry, Neurology-trained physical, occupational, and speech therapists, a nutritionist, and social work. UNMC, as Nebraska's sole public academic health sciences center, is dedicated to educating the future healthcare workforce, discovering cures and treatments, providing exceptional patient care, and extending its services through outreach programs.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the enhancement of the Multiple Sclerosis program.
  • Assist in developing community services to improve access for patients with MS and other CNS demyelinating conditions.
  • Engage in telemedicine initiatives to reach patients in the community and surrounding region.
  • Teach MS fellows, neurology residents, and students.
  • Conduct research activities.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient services.
