About The Position

San Bernardino County is seeking a skilled Multimedia Production Specialist II to join their multimedia team. This role involves videography, photography, motion graphic animation, and live broadcast support to help tell the County's story. The position offers excellent benefits and a competitive salary with planned annual increases and bi-annual step increases. The current vacancy emphasizes video editing and motion graphics but encompasses the full spectrum of videography. The role supports the multimedia needs of the highest levels of County government, including producing live broadcasts for the County Board of Supervisors and other live streams. Strong technical proficiency in video production, motion graphics, post-production, lighting, sound, photography, and shot composition is required, with experience in both studio and field production, as well as live streaming, being highly desired.

Requirements

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in television or film production, multimedia or educational media, graphic design, communication/liberal arts, photography, business administration or other closely related field AND two (2) years of professional, hands-on work experience in a variety of media and video production areas or television production.
  • Option 2: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college-level coursework from an accredited college or university in television or film production, multimedia or educational media, graphic design, communication/liberal arts, photography, business administration or other closely related field AND four (4) years of professional, hands-on work experience in a variety of media and video production areas or television production.
  • Option 3: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college-level coursework from an accredited college or university in television or film production, multimedia or educational media, graphic design, communication/liberal arts, photography, business administration or other closely related field AND two (2) years of professional, hands-on work experience gained within San Bernardino County in a variety of media and video production areas or television production; duties must include pre- and post-production videography activities.
  • Must pass a background investigation, including physical and drug screening, and verification of employment history and education.
  • San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
  • Travel throughout the County is required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation; employees may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rate).
  • May be required to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays for special events as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience and enthusiasm for in-studio and field videography, photography, and live broadcasting support, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and production techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or other comparable software solution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of motion graphic animation in Adobe After Effects or other comparable software solution.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast and video camera equipment, audio, lighting and grip, and chroma key compositing.
  • Photographic skills in the areas of event, headshot, and landscape photography; with an understanding of photo editing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator to modify vector assets and organize vector artwork layers for animation.
  • Drone pilot experience.
  • Excellent filming, production, and editing skills.
  • Strong studio and field production experience.
  • Excellent photojournalism, communication, and creative writing skills with the ability to capture images and write content that help to tell compelling stories for San Bernardino County.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and able to prioritize and manage projects to complete urgent requests as well as structured long-term projects.
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work within deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling, story-driven videos showcasing County departments, programs, events, employees, and residents.
  • Edit projects of varying lengths and styles for all County media platforms to increase shareability for social media, ensure quick turnaround times, and maximize county outreach.
  • Create eye-catching, informative, and fun motion graphic animations, staying informed of the latest trends and incorporating new Adobe After Effects tools.
  • Conduct video interviews with County officials, department heads, employees, and residents to increase brand awareness and support communication and outreach goals.
  • Operate and manage complex audiovisual (AV) equipment (cameras, microphones, switchers, etc.) to produce live meetings and broadcasts, including operating multiple cameras and remote videoconferencing sites.
  • Produce PowerPoint presentations for public meetings, training sessions, and live broadcasts.
  • Produce podcast events by operating and controlling the audio mixer and sound booth.
  • Maintain a highly organized file management system.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance; maintain audio, video, and photographic equipment, ensuring timely repairs.
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting for field, studio, teleconferencing, and broadcast equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date skills with the latest software, hardware, and industry trends.
