About The Position

The City of Redmond is seeking a creative and talented Multimedia Production Specialist to join its Communications Division. This role supports citywide communications efforts, marketing initiatives, and community engagement through professional video production, photography, multimedia storytelling, and digital content creation. The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller who can capture moments and transform them into engaging content that informs, educates, and connects with residents, businesses, visitors, and city staff. This role requires managing multiple projects, working effectively both independently and as part of a team, and consistently delivering polished, on-brand work under deadlines. This position is full-time and might require some weekends and evenings.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in video storytelling, editorial photography, and multimedia content creation.
  • Knowledge of camera systems, lighting equipment, audio recording techniques, and digital media production standards.
  • Comfortable creating both polished, professionally produced content and authentic, fast-turnaround content optimized for social media and digital engagement channels.
  • Ability to develop and execute projects from concept to final delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interview subjects and work effectively with elected officials, city staff, and community members.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance.
  • Knowledge of YouTube channel management, video optimization, audience growth strategies and analytics.
  • Experience creating content optimized for websites, social media, digital campaigns, and other online communications channels.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, video hosting platforms, and digital publishing tools.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and After Effects or equivalent multimedia production software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, and PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Digital Communications or related field with five (5) or more years of applicable experience.
  • Work experience within a public sector setting is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with web design (HTML, CSS, Responsive design), Content Management System(s).
  • Knowledge with SharePoint content editing, experience with CivicPlus’s Civic Engage website platform, email marketing software, and ArcGIS StoryMaps or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, produce, shoot, and edit high-quality video content that supports citywide communications and marketing, with an emphasis on short-form video.
  • Serve as the Communications Division’s primary photographer, capturing professional images of City programs, services, events, facilities, employees, and community activities.
  • Develop compelling visual stories that effectively communicate City priorities, projects, and services through video, photography, and multimedia content.
  • Collaborate with communications staff and departmental stakeholders to identify storytelling opportunities and develop multimedia content strategies.
  • Manage digital media assets, including organization, archiving, and maintenance of photography and video libraries.
  • Ensure all multimedia content aligns with City branding, accessibility requirements, and City communications goals.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices for visual storytelling.
  • Assist with content planning and performance evaluation across digital communications channels.
  • Serve as administrator of RCTV, the City of Redmond’s cable television channel.
  • Manage the @CityofRedmond YouTube channel, including content planning, publishing, optimization, audience growth, analytics, accessibility compliance, and the production and distribution of video content that supports City communications goals.
  • Provides occasional support for evening or after-hours meetings, boards, commissions, and committees as assigned, which may include meeting logistics, audiovisual/technical setup, and other operational assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
